Interesting how he claims that the cheap mounts are just as good as the expensive ones when anyone with experience has said that it's worth spending the money on the good mounts. ....

Scoping a sporting rifle does not make it a sniper's rifle. The scope in the first picture is so high you're head wouldn't be touching the stock at all. The 10-50x cheapo scope is just ridiculous, but so is putting a 10X scope on the wee barrel.

<quote>The SOCOM is a handy little sniper rifle</quote>

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Unless the cheap mounts have gotten better, we went through this a few years ago. They often don't mount properly, they are crap quality, and they don't hold the scope particularly steady. If I remember correctly we had some of the screws break off in the receiver when we tried to mount them. Don't buy them.

This article makes me wonder about this guy's knowledge of the M-14 platform. I don't think he is building a sniper rifle, he is instead building a look alike with a big scope. The comments are good. Bassett and Sadlak recommended by the readers, someone also commented on the pounding that scopes take on the Garand platforms. I wonder if that Burris will stand up.

I'd like to see more of them in Canada.
