M200 Intervention?

There was a guy here that supplied those rifles for the movie?
He was unimpressed with the value per dollar if I remember correctly.

One could build two custom rifles both on Surgeon actions at some place like Alberta Tactical both chambered in 408 CHeyTac for about $16,000.00?

Make sense?

im pretty sure it was Longshot.

I want to know if anyone has one. Knows who can make a clone or who sells them.

I think it would be pretty neet to see one at a range, and possibly fire off a few rounds from or even own.

Why? They are a hideously expensive 'tacticoo'l rifle capable or no more or less precision than most semi-custom rifles at 10% of the cost.

I guess if you want one for the trunk of your whale-tail Honda Civic with its ground-effects package and nitrous kit, that's different....

Actually i drive a 97 camaro and a 01 gmc sierra, but thanks for comin out.

And Ive loved the look of military used rifles. Its something you dont see everyday. Granted im not looking to spend $16,000 on one. But maybe a custom one-off rifle.

I think that if a guy really wants a shooter, there a way better options out there. Sure they look cool, but is that what really counts? In my book, performance beats looks hands down any day.

True true, function over form. Maybe what ill do is build one off a platform that is accurate, cheap(er), and over a .308. Like I said earlyer maybe a 6.8 or a 7mm rem. Although it would have to be removable mag fed bolt action. Any ideas?

Why not just call Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply, give them $8,000, wait 2 months, and bam. Tacticool of your spec at your doorstep. Or phone PGW and front the coin for a Timberwolf 338lapua.

If you want to be smart about things and learn to shoot well, you'll go buy a .22LR and put 2,000-3,000 rounds through it, then buy a 223-270, another 1,000 to 1,500 shots, then a 308 and so on. Walk before you run.

Nothing stupider than seeing a sick looking rig tossing holes all over the paper and the idiot shooting factory ammo. The M200 is made for the movies and video games. I'm sorry if I've presented you with a slice of reality. :/

There used to be a link to the CheyTac website claiming it holds the world record for tightest group at distance.

Truth, one-time fluke, or marketing BS? Who knows, but them removing the link should tell you something.

Wow, what is with all the bitter hate on this forum lately? It seems every thread I open it is a bunch of acidic comments on whatever is being produced or sold... Personally, I don't understand it... the way I see it every time somebody comes up with something new there is a price attached to it. Frequently most consumers (myself included) can't afford the initial opening bids (remember Plasma Screen TVs anyone?) but it almost always leads to a drop in price and more doors opening for the general consumer. In this present day there is so much more selection in things like rifles, computers, tvs it is dizzying. So what if this rifle is 16k? When it becomes more commonplace prices drop for both competitors and the rifle in question... Just my 2 cents.

Yup! :D

Nice thing about this rifle is caliber conversions are reasonably priced and you can switch from 338LApua to 308 Winchester in minutes.

The only downfall to the rifle is it has an average trigger (all bullpups do).

Glock,
I don't hate any rifle, but if I remember correctly Longshot was far from impressed with the rifle. A guy ought to know before he plunks down the better part of 20 grand.

X-Fan: I agree that if you pay more you should in theory get more but if you consider Mercedes/Jag/etc you know that isn't always the case. That being said the features that are brought to market by high end car makers are starting to make it into Ford/GM/Toyota type vehicles. Unfortunately, high cost does not equal hand crafted perfection though we would like them to be... if you look at some of the over-under perazzi shotguns that guys are buying, 16k is chump change and I am sure you could get a shotgun for 1/10 maybe 1/20 of the price of those and still shoot scores that are as good as a guy with a perazzi. I personally wouldn't buy a CT M200; however the concept of the .408 can easily be duplicated in another action/barrel but CT is bringing something new and different to the market. Similar to the .338 Lapua Magnum, it was originally available from AI and now other manufacturers are coming online with it (SAKO, Remington) and it is becoming more common place to see them...

Thanks for the link. Too bad Rick and a couple others got in a pecker measuring competition though.

Actually Sako had it out in the TRGS in the 80's and couldn't give them away. :p

I see what you are saying and in the case of a Timberwolf or DSR1 I get it.
Getting a bit more is a lot more expensive.

I'm not sure the CT belongs in that group I guess is what I'm getting at.
