M203 37mm

i know the US and Canadian goverments get bent out of shape over the whole 40mm issue, but you can get the M203 in 37mm(not the Cobray junk) as a title1 weapon, not a DD.

do the US still see these as a no export item?

There are a couple guys that have full M203 grenade launchers. Since the velocity and energy dont meet the "definition" of Firearm, its got no more legal status then a beebee gun.

Now, you are not allowed to use any "explosive" ammunition, but Flares, paint, chalk etc... are all okay as long as they dont go above 500 feet per second.


Getting one is the tricky part, i would assume you would need to have someone import them.

That doesn't make it a 37mm M203 any more than putting a .22LR upper on an M16 lower makes it a .22LR M16 - it's something different.

that guy is a contractor for the military. he makes 203's for them. he also makes a 203 barrel identical except for the the caliber difference, and no rifling.

I guess we're lucky they didn't outright Ban them... I am still looking into getting one, but it will probably be much harder now. (not right now, but sometime within a year or two, if they arn't totally banned by then)

Yes, i guess they have just cut another cool toy and turned it into something Evil. I was operating on old info i suppose.


Just so im not handing out any more "incorrect" info, when did the legislation change about 203's? was it always that way, or was it fairly recent that they were changed?

There weren't any changes to the legislation, only to the interpretation and subsequent policy and policy enforcement.
