M213 Recoil spring

I just got my Norc 213 today. What a beast! It was soaking in cosmoline, so I gave it a field strip and wipe down.

Disassembly wasn't so bad, but when reassembling, getting the recoil spring back in was a monster PITA. Anyone have any tips on how to get this damn thing back in?

You really just have to use both hands and really give it some brute force then pin it down with your thumb once in place. Practice doing it and you eventually find it easy after a while.

I squeeze the spring in with my thumb while wrapping my fingers around the spring, like a fleshy extension of the slide, then I slip the frame into the grooves of the slide, and it all goes together with no issues. I've yet to experience the spring flying out while reassembling.

Why not put the slide on,put the recoil spring in, then the barrel bushing?

My bushing is tight as heck when I go for reassembly. It is actually easier in my pistol to have the spring captive with the bushing, the slide in my palm, fingers around the spring, and push the works together.

Push the take down lever through, clip it, done. I think it's what THX describes, just in my words.

Hmmm. I assemble mine like a 1911. Bushing, then spring. Bushing is not tight.
