Oh there it is, number 7 of the list of prohibited firearms of the Criminal Code...

can someone inform me ....If my memory serves me well m3 is prohibited but not the new m4.

correct. The M3 can be used in either pump or semi mode...the semi is based on a the same recoil spring principle as the prohibited M1 series (sigh)...the new M4 uses a gas recoil system.
