I am planning on buying a m305 any day now (even have the wife's ok! lol), but I have read a few people mention that you'll want to replace the bolt, or at least there is a real risk you'll need to. Do most dealers warranty against a poor bolt lug contact, and if not, where do I find a new bolt? Thanks.

News to me. I've had mine for 5 years and never had an issue. Maybe some of the more experienced members on this platform will chime in, but mine has been GTG since day 1

You might be reading your news on US forums. Their rifles are older manufacture since U.S. Importation was halted by Clinton. The newer Canadian Norcs haven't had much in the way of bolt issues. You get the occasional out-of-spec issue but if you buy from a reputable dealer they will do an exchange.

first rule and my only advice here...... do not read U.S. forums for your advice on the norinco m14s/m305.
no offense to our southern brothers but the best place to get all yer info on these rifles is this forum right here.
I'll leave it to the others to help ya with yer actual question but I think it's been answered ;)

m14forums is a wealth of knowledge for sure, but their norcs are old norcs and are not quite the same as our current norcs. I have had mine since 2011, about 3 thousand rounds later and never an issue with the bolt or anything really for that matter, a quick tune up at a clinic and you are good to go.

Their Norcs are mostly Polytechs and a great deal of NIH being involved. In any case, you cannot just put in a new bolt. They're not drop in parts and must be fitted for headspace.

I have one of the Newer ChiCom M305 rifles. The only problems I have had with mine is failure of the hammer following test, failure to #### and tripling. All of these problems started when I mounted the action in a Sage EBR stock. I had none of these discrepancies while it was mounted in the ChiCom stock. The bolt wear marks on mine are even and she bares good on all bolt lugs.

Well, my new rifle is in. After a quick inspection, I took it out and blasted away with it. Wow, these things are addicting!!! Now, off to find a decent deal on vast quantities of ammo... and convince the wife I NEED it :)
