m305 bolt

Taking it apart is easy....

The ejector put a big colourful spiderweb in my lcd monitor when I was trying to put my bolt back together. I had to go to Valley guns and get Jeff to put it together for me.

I learned that without an assembly/disassembly tool, it isn't such a great idea. That and a good soak in WD-40 does just as good of a job as disassembly and scrubbing.

The extractor pin is the key to it all. Push it out from bottom to top and watch all the parts fly out. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee! The norinco ejector spring is longer than the USGI one. That's what makes it hard to put back together again. Assembly and disassembly with the 30-06 spent shell in the chamber and the bolt pressed against it is the ticket!

I have the bolt out of the gun right now. For that 30-06 trick do I need the bolt in the gun? Also do I use oild or grease insid ethe bolt? or because its free floating firing pin I leave it dry?

I've had this M14 for a few months but just got around to cleaning it now, so I dont know squat.

If you have your M14 combination tool, That is what you use against the bolt face when disassembling it.

Yep - it can be a three-handed job and even still can be next to impossible some times. Using a spent 30-06 casing, you hold the bolt against the 30-06 cartridge thus depressing the ejector. Extractor then gets lifted out and the ejector is free move ahead under force of the spring. My norinco was terrible, a few of us couldn't get it back together even with the tool. We had to snip a couple of coils from the spring before it would go back together

I push the tool into the bolt face....Is there spomethign Im supposed to pull out , liekt hee xtractor?

You keep your left hand fingers on the extrator etc, and right hand use the combo tool, The small end of the tool goes against the face of the bolt, turn the tool like a screw driver. Everything pops out into your hand. No need for a third arm. :D

I used the small end of my tool to push in the ejector and tried turning, but the little bastard wont pop apart.

Did you give a loud manly grunt while doing it? It should just pop ?

For a no-cost, simple method...Use a .308 case head, (cut about 3/8" above the extractor groove) and a good size bench vise (3" opening). Clamp the bolt with the case head into the padded vise, bottom side up, to relieve the ejector presure. Tap the extractor out and catch it in a rag or something. Now carefully release the bolt from the vise while holding your other hand around the bolt face to catch the ejector and ejector spring. That's it, remove all other parts and you're done. It probably takes longer to read this than to do it :D

To re-assemble, do the reverse.
