Hi all,

I've had a search through the forum but haven't found the info unfortunately.

I've just put a USGI wooden stock on my M305. I'm aware that the connector lock has a reputation for migrating outwards causing problems.

My plan is to remove the Norinco lock and sand a USGI lock down to fit.

I was thinking to either reuse the solid norinco retaining pin in the USGI lock (If I can get the damn thing out) or find a split pin of the right size.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the retaining pin or have a source where I might be able to find one?

Thanks!

I've had a look at them. I've seen the aforementioned popsicle stick fix as well as people mentioning that they reduced the size of the USGI pin and used that. I'm going to go down that route as I'd prefer to change the pin rather than glue something inside my stock.

It’s a bit more than a reputation.... it’s a guarantee. The connector lock will migrate out if there isn’t something there to keep it in place. It is rare that it will lock-up the rifle, but I’ve seen that too!

The retaining pin that holds the connector lock in place is a “standard” roll pin 5/64” dia. 1/2” long.

The Chinese connector lock is a little smaller dia. Than the GI one, so sanding it a bit or drilling out the receiver to accept the fatter lock are pretty much the only ways to get one to fit. The Chinese connector lock pins are solid, and also a fatter pin than the pin hole in a GI connector lock.

I’ll be honest here..... the popsicle stick mod is waaaaaay easier..... it’s a fair bit of dinking around compared to a little crazy glue and 2 layers of possible stick, that are really easy to remove in the future if you decide to do so....
