M305 Ejection port issue?

In the picture below you can see that the tightening lug for the scope mount slightly overhangs the ejection port of the M305. I've had to reverse my scope mount so that I can get proper eye relief with my scope which means the tightening lugs are now on the opposite side. Will this highly increase my chances of getting stove pipes or other issues? I'm not sure what else I can do to get proper eye relief in my scope besides reversing the scope mount. (Im aware the scope is not tightened down properly, its all temporary for now)

Yes, it might.

My scope rail was dinged up from the brass hitting it as they ejected. But I had no stovepipes or other issues.

No real way to be sure without shooting it. The type of ammo will determine the path of the cartridge, so it might be fine with some ammo and not fine with other (hotter for example) ammo.

Or - but new scope rings. No need for the PEPR mount on an M305, just regular rings. Easy to sell the PEPR and rings are cheap.

I have a set of Nikon P-series rings on one of my rifles. They should give you the same height and about the same offset as the mount you have now without obstructing the ejection port. They are available in both 1" and 30mm. Do you need to be that high with the scope though? Weaver makes offset rings that will fit your rail, may set the ring back enough and definitely get the scope lower.

switch your mount so the nuts are on the other side

I don't see why standard rings wouldn't permit you to position that scope in the same position with respect to eye relief. Personally, I like Burris Signature Zee rings, but there are lots of good rings out there.
