M305 Front sight off centre

I finally found some time to take the M305 Poly Tech out of the box tonight for a good wipe down. Will be stripping it this weekend for a good cleaning.

I did notice the front sight was not installed properly. One side is still sticking out almost 1/8". Seems like Xuxu was in too much of a hurry to move on to the next rifle. Is this a common issue? I know about reindexing but not sure if this is what I am seeing.

I had the same problem with my M305, I just put it back to where I thought it looked right and figured I would just have to adjust the rear sight to dial it in. Somehow I got lucky and didn't really need to do much other tweaking to the sights as where they ended up after the front sight adjustment was almost dead nutz.

Yes, mine was the same on my Poly. See the indexing mark on the sight, and the other half on the flash suppressor? Line up those two marks and you should be good to go. Just loosen the allen bolt and tap the sight over.

My preference is to take it to the range and centre the rear sight. Move the front sight to get it as close as you can to shooting correctly. Point of impact will move opposite the way you move the front sight (if I dont' have that screwed up).

Thanks. I'll do that tonight. Hopefully won't find nothing more serious. Not very reassuring to see something like that slip through final check. Wonder if there was one LOL. Overall I think it's a good investment at the very least.

Bingo. Then take to range and adjust rear sight.

If your indexing is off, the sight post will be canted off to one side instead of appearing straight up and down. The "widow's peak" in the middle of the feed ramp won't line up with the receiver centreline, either.

Ideally, you want the windage to be dead on with the rear sight centred. I would start with the front sight at its witness marks and see how close the windage is with the rear sight centred and move the front sight over if it's way off.
