Is a handguard from a m305 compatible with a walnut USGI stock or am I hooped and have to look for a Usgi one? Can anyone let me know where I could find a vented handguard or a scout style thanks

I didn't have an issue doing it even I bought my M14, don't see any reason you would either. As for vented, cross your fingers and check American pages.

Solid ones are better, the vented ones are basically just for looks.

The Chinese handguards are all fibreglass and although not quite as nicely made as USGI, they are still pretty good. You can definitely use it.

Somewhat disappointed to learn that vented handguards aren't such a great idea. Wife came home the other day and said she'd bought herself a present she was willing to share with me: a Foredom. So right away I figured I'd use it to vent a spare handguard I have...

I might just do it anyway, just for grins.

Or you could accept that a solid guard is stronger, does a better job of preventing debris from getting under the barrel, does a better job of preventing burnt hands, and that a vented handguard makes no measurable difference in cooling the barrel... just saying.

Vented handguards are mandatory for an E2 clone though...
