my m305 is on its way and like to do her up nice.
what parts should i get and in what order
p.s i know all about the stock :?:

The bolt will do just fine for anything but precision shooting (which isn't the M14/305's strongpoint, but some just don't listen! ) Infact it's perfect for what it was designed for; shooting mil ball with great reliability. Some old Norc's had bolts with steel that was too soft, making for rapidly expanding headspace  But not anymore on the new production, these bolts are very (relatively) good.

No sense in replacing it in my opinion unless you're going for MOA, but then you should be shooting a bolt gun anyhow! :)

#1. Get a really good USGI fibreglass stock. No bedding required and no stock liner required. Lots available on this board. Talk to SKBY.

#2. A Rooster33 op-rod spring guide. Better than Fulton or anyone else in the US.

#3. You should shim the gas system. Mysticplayer of this forum is the go to on this forum.

After that, anything goes. It really depends upon what you want from your rifle. You could end up with something like one of the following 4:

My Current M14 incarnation will hold its own in regards to precision shooting. It is capable of sub-MOA when I do my job.

My former Hungry built M14 would keep right up to most of the custom bolt guns that would show up at our ranges.

It could hit a .38 spl case at 200 meters every time when I was in form. 8) :D
