Any chance you could take some pictures for us? It will be a big help.
Mine was a little tight and messed with the trigger group on one rifle, so I took the easy way out and just swapped receivers.

You will need to remove material from the stock on the op rod side. I marked with a pencil then used a dremel and a file to fit. When the back of the reciever fits flush you are done. This is the area at the back of the reciever where op rod would disengage. You may have to remove some material for the stock liner to fit as well. I found if you installed the liner farther back and pushed it into place gently it fit. It's harder to install and pull it back. I removed some wood around the trigger group wings. I left mine as a really hard push to install then checked for correct function. It operates correct so I left it tight.

Hi Terry
I haven't stocked an M305 but I did fit an M1 into a Boyds and there was some minor fitting required. It was a couple years ago so I'm just going off memory here but there was a little sanding required under the trigger group to get it to lock in snugly, a little sanding was required under the oprod to pass the tilt test, the handguards needed minor work around the ferrule inletting. It wasn't a drop-in fit but it didn't take much work to get it fitting right. Pics will be a big help.
