M305/M14 Trouble

I had every intention of measuring the nub but of course forgot my calipers at work... The nub seems pretty good as far as wear goes and the channel in the rifle shows minimal wear but the flat directly underneath the nub (when oriented the same as your picture) shows some wear? My friend is lending me his op rod tomorrow and his rifle has seen hundreds of rounds functioning flawlessly so maybe I can compare them and see what's up.

So I believe I found the answer. After borrowing a friends rifle I found that my op rod appears to be out of spec. Right infront of the charging handle the long flat section of the op rod that rides along where the barrel set screw is sits out about 1/8 away from the receiver side allowing it to flex in that far when firing. I can make it flex that far by pressing it and it actually ends up at the contact point when it is pressed in. His op rod rides up against that section and with his in my rifle I cannot make it flex in. My op rod sits the same in his rifle as well so its my op rod and not the receiver.

Glad to hear you figured out the problem ! Treeline sells new op rods but they are not cheap . Best bet would be to find one on the E.E if possible.
And I was happy to see that you didn't need the dremel or a cutting torch after all

Well I appreciate all the help and support from everyone alone the way and thank you chalkriver for the help with the pictures! I think I found an op rod just waiting for a reply from the seller! And yes im glad it didn't come to that either haha
