M305 monopod on the magazine

Just bought an M305 in a Blackfeather chassis. Have yet to shoot it, but damn....this thing is supremely badass. Lots to learn about this platform too.

Anyways...an easy question that google didn't immediately find an answer to: can I support the gun with the magazine on the ground in a prone position and still expect it to feed reliably?

Just wondering why we shouldn't. I always rest my mag on a fence post for stability while hunting with both my M305 and MVP.

Will this effect the firearm in a negative way?

It can affect how it feeds. If you look at how a magazine locks into an M14-type rifle, the back end of the op-rod spring guide goes into the square cut out in the front of the magazine and the welded on "rectangle" on the back of the mag engages the mag release. So if you're resting the rifle's weight on the mag, you're pushing on the op-rod spring guide.
