so i realy want a m14 clone m305 with my budget, but in looking into them ive come across so many bad stories and problems that they have and that the bolts wear out and what not after a couple hundred rounds and its left me wondering should if its just internet drama and i should get one anyway and enjoy it and just replace something if i need to.

i got mine back in march probable have close to 450 rounds through it. i havent touched a thing other than cleaning and greasing the rifle. my gas system is straight and tight.

If you like to tinker, they are great! Out of the box they are okay, but I would say the rear sights & the wood stock are items you really should replace on them.

I must say that I thoroughly enjoy my 2007 Norinco M14 that I bought from Marstar in 2008.

Cheers

Well I just posted a horror story.
I'm going to fix it and keep running it. I also intend on buying a second one. I agree, with what was said. If you like to tinker they are great. Out of the box they are okay. None of the tinkering is remotely hard. If you've changed the oil in a car you can do most of it, go to a clinic when you can, the one I went to was a lot of fun, learned a lot and met some good people.
EVERYONE should have one

CanuckR, you should have clarified with "Operator Error Horror Story"... Putting a round in the chamber of an M14 and letting the bolt go is a BIG NO NO! Always load from the mag due to the free floating firing pin...

Cheers

Mine is a 2009 and I've haven't had any issues with it. It shot great out of the box. I've since dropped it into a USGI stock, added a Sadlak guide rod and Tubb spring. It still shoots great and the additions MAY have made it more consistent or it may just be because I've been shooting a lot. Can't go wrong with a pre-2010 Norc......and I agree that everyone should own at least one.

I have owned 3 of them and they needed a little tweaking but overall they are a good rifle and for the money a good deal .
Read the stickies and try and get to a clinic ( Hungry or 45ACP ) .

2012 batch with over 3000 rnd's through her and not a hickup! Shoots good and straight! Don't let the couple problems people have had scare you away! But I do suggest having the rifle in your hands before you buy it and hopefully have some one who knows the platform have a look at it!

I was reluctant until a friend got one first and I loved it. I bought one right away and have never looked back. M14.com has some great stuff that helped me enjoy it even more. Cheers and happy shooting.

i say pick one up soon as rumour has it the price will be going up 150-200$ in the future

LOL hope we can expect 150.00 or more in increased quality control at all ends of the chain then.... As such a price increase would cause sales to drop significantly you can bet on it

got one 2009 variety, added some weight to the stock but nothing else had it out last Wednesday started at 100 then 200 then 600 got good groups for irons at 1 and 2 but out to 6 i was barley hitting the 4x4 target back i think i was pulling them but loving the gun just getting components together so i can afford to shoot it regularly.
