Is there any "one stop" shopping for M305 conversion parts. I'm looking for the "Smith" vortex, Navy front sight, and the Rooster op rod and guide. Does the bolt need to be changed out?

There is no imperative to change the bolt. Most Chinese rifles are very good as is. The motivation for talk about changing it starts from tests some US writers did on the hardness of Chinese receivers and bolts when the guns first appeared. They found SOME were not at hard as USGI guns. Naturally, their reaction was to consistently badmouth the Chinese metalurgy, and stand awestruck at the superior quality of the American parts. The most recent tests have found the Chinese parts are not bad anymore; unlike the commercial American parts.

The only situation that might prompt me to change a bolt is after ten thousand rounds and a few separated cases, and tests showed the headspace had opened up.

I emailed Rooster33 last week for a price quote on a new op rod spring guide and didnt get a response. Anybody know what the price is on the part and if rooster is still going on going on?

I just got my Rooster parts this past Friday. It was only 3 weeks from the time I mailed out an MO to getting the parts (spring guide and tactical release). I did call and talk to him personally to see if the parts were in stock and ready to ship, maybe that helped. I didn't know he made the Navy front sight also, another item I will order.

I did not realize he made those as well, how much is the spring guide and sight?

Mildot you should give Jeff @ valley guns a call or better yet just drop in and see what he has in stock ...... seeing as how you are in Petawawa and so is he. He does carry most if not all of the items that you are looking for and he's also very good to deal with .His phone # is 687-2352 Mike

Mildot I don't know why I thought that you were located in Petawa but it appears that you are not. In any case, you can still try Jeff for your M305 parts etc. Good luck with your project..keep us posted on the progress!!! Mike
