i am purchasing a m305 this month, short or long, not sure
every thread on the subject seems to degrade into a pissin match
it seems this just a "ford vs chevy" debate
if there is little or no differance in performance, $50 for 3-1/2" less....is that the only issue?

i know we are all passionate about our guns, and the choices we made, but like the thread title says...just the facts....please,lol!

p.s. i have guns for short shooting, i wanna put a scope and bipod on, as my eyes arnt so sharp anymore, 100 meters the targets just a blur and i need bifocals, but like a true gunnut i will buy more guns and scopes before glasses.lol!

I have both versions and I feel that the difference in accuracy isnt noticeable at all...if there is one in fact. I found the quality a bit better in my Norinco Shorty from Canam than the other 2 m-305,s I owned at the time.
With the help of a really good spotter (Hungry) I was making hits on a fig 11target with my Shorty at 500M with iron sights. Thats good enough for me :)
Get the length of barrel you prefer or the one you can get the best deal on.

A lot of it is looks pure and simple. A shorter gun swings better in the bush. The folks at krieger will tell you that the shorter barrel is the more accurate since it is stiffer. In the end it is a lot like canoes. Are you a red canoe person or a green canoe person. At the price you will find people have at least one of each. I do:D

I shortened two of my Norcs because the Flash hiders had to go.

One looked like this

And the other did not break from the welds well when it was removed for the first time.

So now I have a standard 22" barrel on one and two cut to 18.5".

I hardly ever shoot the full length barrel any more.

I have a regular length M305 and would prefer a shorty sans flash hider for carry in brush.

I hear Ya;) That flash hider with front sight and bay lug is a snag magnet. Won't be hunting with my M305 again. Ain't worth the grief.

The longer version does move the front sight further out which will help accuracy. Is it enough to notice...probably not. Buy what ever you like the look of. I have both and they are both nice.

I got the full length because i liked the look much better than the shorty, i cant speak for the shorty but the full length is a great hunting rifle. No modifications at all and i love her for deer
