Hello all, I have a new M305, and took it out to the woods to sight it in yesterday. I was shooting at a target roughly 100 feet away to get a feel for the sights before I take it to the range. In order to put any shots on target at that distance, my elevation had to be cranked up to 10, which I'm assuming is 1000 meters, and my aperture is waaaay out, like over halfway out of the rear sight base. Is there anything I can do about that? Or do I just have to outright replace the rear sight in order to get the elevation adjustments to shoot out further? I'll post a picture when I get home from work tonight. Thanks in advance!

fyi, norc sights are not zeroed from the factory.

zero yourself at 100, disregard the elev dial number.
then loosen the screw/bolt holding the elev dial until there's no friction,
slip the elev dial to 100, retighten the screw bolt until its nice and tight.
profit.

for my norcs, zero was around 12 clicks from bottom

for your windage, alot of the norc barrels arent perfectly timed.
you can either drift the front sight left or right, what i did cause it was easiest.
or you can TRY to adjust the windage on the rear. mine was fubarred so i left it and worked the front sight.

Nork front sights are also too high, at least mine were. The NM front sight I ordered was much shorter and works great without any need to replace flash suppressor. Maybe I got one with sights meant for an 18" model? Or they are all that way.

same here, norc front is too high, my new NM is shorter. looks like it,s consistent in the new batch of norcs . I guess you could take a file to it, they are disposable. :H:S:

Next question haha. My front sight is pushed to the right I order to keep my windage cantered on the rear sight. I'm assuming that means my entire barrel isn't perfectly in line with the receiver, so is that going to give me a load of trouble if I mount a scope on the rifle? I'm looking at one of the m14.ca CASM mounts, but if it's going to seriously screw with my scope wordage and leave me little to no room for adjustments then I won't bother.
I also slacked off and had the girlfriend over the other night and forgot to take pictures of my sights, I'll try and remember that tonight.

Either your barrel is out of index and/or your sight is machined crooked and/or your sight base on the flash suppressor is milled crooked. Grab a NM front sight and set screw from Brownells. They're cheap like 25 bucks.

If you are going to mount a scope using the M14.ca mount, why do you care about the front sight? You aren't going to be using irons and you will have to remove the rear sight.

Poor indexing of the barrel should not affect your scope adjustments...it's not as if the barrel bore is not aligned with the receiver. Your over-indexing just means that the barrel is over tightened. If your rear sight pocket is out-of-spec and is misaligned however, then the M14.ca mount will also be misaligned (and so will your scope) but you haven't said anything that indicates that your rifle has this problem.

I was just wondering if that over indexing was going to use all of my windage adjustments in the scope to get my point of aim and point of impact being the same spot. The sight related questions were a whole other thing, as I won't be able to afford the mount and glass for probably a year or so, I was making sure the irons, which I'm going to have to use for some time yet, are usable and aren't totally dickered. Thanks for the reply though!
