m305 standard length

You may want to check out acuracy plus in Peterborough Ontario I got one there a couple of months ago. Or check the EE.

I called a place and said that most places will get them in the fall. I was looking for one as well but I ended up getting one off of the EE

The worse part is, in 6 months, everyone will be looking for a shorty and wont be able to find one, only the full size ones.

And then the cycle repeats.

"...I'll never understand..." Ditto. Especially one that never existed in any military. It's right up there with putting a scope on a carbine like an SKS, or worse, an AK. Ain't marketing a grand thing?

It's not just marketing. People were trying to make scope mounts for SKS's and AK's in their garages before anyone tried to market those things.

Matching a military configuration is irrelevant for many of the uses those rifles see. Yes, it's cool to have it close to the original configuration used in actual combat. But it can be fun to have it in a million other ways that are possible.

I am keeping my SKS as close to stock as I can. It feels right to me. If someone else bubba's theirs to no end I couldn't care less. I'll probably still make fun of them, though.

Shorty M14s may not have seen real service but they are handy for shlubs like me who just want to have some fun and maybe hunt a buck or too.

I do admit that the 22" barrel M14 type rifle does look better than an 18.5" one. Tempting, for sure.

I'm keeping mine in a six inch diameter piece of plastic pipe.

Hey Sunray : "Shorty" m14 rifles are indeed in service with some branches of US military, I'm pretty sure of it.
I've seen M1A Socoms on alaska state troopers too :D :D
