Bought a refurb M305 today for what I thought was a good deal. Tried to put 2 mags through - some feeding issues on the first one, and the first round of the second mag left my rifle looking like this:

I was shooting 180gr which I have read is too much for the rifle, so I’m assuming I shot the bolt back too far or something. But basically it’s stuck back there, about a 1/4 of an inch beyond what the charging handle can “catch” if that makes sense. It looks like it’s sitting at about a 15 degree angle of where it should be. I assume this will require a trip to the gunsmith, but any advice?

Thanks!

Probably just jammed in place. Was it a ‘hot’ load? These guns like 150g pills with a load in the upper middle of the range (medium well done, if you know what I mean).

Give a couple of light bumps on the back end of the bolt (use a piece of wood against the bolt, and tap the wood lightly with a hammer). Will probably drop free. Then inspect for issues. Is the bolt ‘normal’ (no odd bumps or burrs)? Compare with another or pictures on the internet.

It shouldn't do this even with hot loads. Can you remove the oprod? Maybe it's bent and the bolt roller slid off. I've seen one do that by just racking the action, if it is set right it will act right.

ya it look like it is back too far... behind the bridge

get help to hold the bolt release in ... other wise you will have a owee

wiggle the front of the bolt around to get in in the hole/slot .. when it goes forward.. you can then release bolt stop..
remove spring/ opprod/ remove bolt and ..... inspect

you might be missing the roller .... maybe not ... bolt is back too far now

Did the oprod jump out of its track?
Is the oprod guide on the barrel still aligned or did it twist to one side?

Can we see a picture of the back of the oprod handle and a top down view of the oprod guide?
