I picked up one of the shorty M305s from this latest order. I'm having an issue with the rifle failing the safety test mentioned in the sticky'd thread above.

It worked fine after the first cleaning. Shot superbly with the Norinco 7.62 but after the range I cleaned and reassembled it now it will not pass the safety test. The hammer never gets caught and slams forward behind the bolt carrier.

When I insert the trigger group and push down the trigger guard the rifle functions properly. Its not until I actually snap the trigger guard down (so you would need the tool to unlatch it) that the problem arises.

I read the suggested fix for this problem is sanding down the area of the stock that touches the trigger group but I thought that was only for aftermarket stocks that never functioned properly in the first place.

Any ideas or suggestions on what to try? Should I go ahead and file down some of the stock to get it to fit properly?

The M305 horror stories just get worse and worse..........funny how russians under fire from nazis could pump out better guns LOL.

I've read a lot of threads recently on problems with the shorter M305's.

Makes me wonder about the quality of these ones??

Out of the box the rifle worked perfectly. It was something I did to the when I disassembled/reassembled it. I'll have someone more knowledgeable take a look at it and find out what the problem is with the trigger group and fix it.

X2!

I am impressed you got a replacement trigger assembly the same day you ran into the problem though...

I ordered it from a member here last week actually. I posted this a few days ago.
