M305's on sale

I looked, but for the life of me, I couldn't see where it was happening. Swapping out the safety was easier for me. Where do you get a jeweller's file and how much do they cost?

Guns are not my only hobby. I got a set of jewelers files from the hobby shop (RC airplanes) and they don't cost much. Many shapes in the package. I expect a lot of stores might have them. Canadian Tire is always a good bet. The files are pretty handy for a gun guy.

There is a "point" on the safety that blocks the trigger from moving. On his it only required taking a small amount of metal off that spot to get his safety to engage. It is a solid engagement with no play at all now. Assembling the trigger is a bit of a trick until one knows how to make it easy. After filing and test fitting a few times a guy is a pro.

I went with my friend to buy his Norinco. It was a late model 22" in the black plastic stock. Overall I was impressed with his rifle and it passed every inspection test I gave it. I did forget the safety however and did not discover it until we were back at my place where I showed him how to grease it and showed him a few tools he might want. I'll be measuring his cases as he shoots it to get a baseline on headspace and see where it goes.

They are not out but by the time I logged in the sale was over. I was tempted to get one at that price to use as a pry bar and pound stakes in the ground.

Has anyone ever figured out just what the unspecified issues supposedly are with the shorties that makes marstar swear off of them?

Or is it just another pissing match between importers?

If these come on again I'll jump. I didn't realize that it was a sale and when I pointed them out to a friend the cheap ones were all gone..

^ They had a bad run on shorties for a couple of years there. By all accounts a 2014 should be alright. I had an absolute lemon of a 2012 that I sold for parts. I would avoid 2010-2012's personally.

How is the accuracy on these? .308 is an expensive cartridge :p
A stock ChiCom M305 will get you 3 to 7 MOA at 100 meters. Some will shoot better than that some worse. One thousands rounds of ChiCom 7.62X51 ammunition will cost $449.00 at Canadian Ammo when it is in stock, goes fast. Other places sell 1000 rounds for around $499.

That supply is almost gone, a few places have it for $500, but plan on it running out very soon. Canada Ammo won't be re-stocking these unless some miracle happens.

Thanks for the info. My standard length is a 2011 I think. Had the usual problems but it's decent

Could buyers of these post the dates? I don't want to assume they are all 2013 and newer.

I sold my 2011 Shorty. Went through 2 Of Barneys clinics and it was a peach! Could shoot 1-2 MOA if I did my part. Sadly I decided to sell and tweak a 2013 22'' that ha an out of spec sight pocket and didn't allow me to mount my M14.ca mount straight. I will fix the issues once I get some Zee ring offset inserts and sight it in. I shot it with USGI sights and it would shoot a solid 2" if I did my part, so anxious to put some decent glass on it and see what it will due. The 20103 rings like a tuning fork when the action is cycled, or the rifle is shot. I am confident once I get the scope alignment fixed up it will be an awesome rifle. Hunting season, work, hockey and the Christmas season has pushed guns and shooting to the back-burner. Enjoy the addiction folks!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Thanks for the info. I saw some small files at Canadian Tire, but wasn't too sure what to look for.

I'll check out a R/C Hobby shop as well.

(about how much $$ are they?)

^ how I was taught too. If it's loaded, it's in my hands ready to shoot. If it's not in my hands ready to shoot, it's not loaded
