So I'm not all that familiar with optics as somewhat new to them. I'm looking to put one on my M4 but have an issue as far as vision. As I'm far sited, the rear site now is blurry. So I need something that can mount somewhat forward, that has a decent size view. My prescription is 2.0, so not REAL bad , but makes quick acquisition hard with iron sights, due to rear one too close to my eye.

You are supposed to focus on the front sight and center it inside the rear ghost ring. At that point both the target and the rear sight should be blurry. The blurriness shouldn't be an issue unless you are saying that it is so blurry to you that you cannot even tell when you are inside the ghost ring and cannot center it properly. I put a Holosun 510 on mine. With a red dot type sight you focus on the target, and the red dot is projected into your eyes and appear mostly in focus. I like the stock at middle extension, so the extra height above the normal sights is a desirable trait.

Because of my vison issue, the rear is very blurry. It takes to long to focus because of this

Sounds to me like you could use a red dot sight of some sort. There are dozens of them on the market, pick the one you like. Vortex seems to be a popular civilian brand. The rail on an M4 should allow you to position it far enough down the barrel to fix the problem.

Not to revive a stagnant thread, but MI makes a nice replacement rail for the M4 that you can then direct mount an Aimpoint H1/2 or T1/2 red dot onto. Have one on my M4, looks slick and lower 1/3 co-witnesses the irons.

This is absolutely the red dot you want.

Here's why...

They don't show it in the pictures but the sight does come with front and rear covers... and that is key...

What you want to do is leave the front cover on when you shoot. Yes... that's correct... Leave the front cover on.

Your right eye ... assuming you are right handed... will see the red dot with a black background.

Your left eye will see the target.

In your brain, you will merge these two images into one and you will see the red dot on the target.

This allows you to shoot skeet with leads that would otherwise be outside the red dots field of view.

You can use the optic in the traditional way for slow moving or not moving targets.

I've been using this method for years and guys at the skeet range are always surprised how well I do because most people fail at skeet with a red dot because they try doing it with the front cover removed and then cannot do leads.

its also a great solution for people who are cross eye dominant.

Try it, get used to it, and you'll be pleased.

The regular 507 is terrific, you can use the circle, the dot, or the circle dot and it's small enough to mount way forward on the rail. The circle is very quick with a shotgun, as it's 32 MOA - also the 507C has a solar panel that reduces battery drain, and shouldn't require battery replacement as often.

While still looking online and trying to decide, I came across the Holosun 507COMP. That looks pretty sweet, and should be available soon.

Interesting, didnt know this was inbound. It's like the regular 507 on steroids.

Bigger window is the way the world seems to be going (certainly for competition orientated sights)

I like the amount of Holosun 500 series recommendations. I have a Holosun HS515GM on mine. I like that model because the flip covers are clear glass so I actually leave them on. The sight rides high enough for me to be comfortable with it. I just had to remove that honeycomb killflash thing.
