M44 bayonet

I recently got an M44 and the bayonet doesn't lock into the groove in the closed position. At first I thought that maybe it was just sticky from the packing grease but after cleaning it up the two grooves just don't line up to lock into place. I assume this may be just from refurbishment and the arsenal replaced the bayonet with a random one that doesn't quite line up. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had gotten an m44 with this problem and has some idea on a way to fix it.
