Well finally decided to take a couple pics of my recently acquired M44(bought from a fellow CGNer)and figured I'd post them here. The finish is not exactly to my liking and I intend to return her to her original red shellac glory sometime next month or when I get the time and will no doubt be posting pics of the refinished rifle.

Nice bang stick you have there. Have you had a chance to scare the crap out of anyone at the range yet with the muzzle blast?

Have you considered using an oil finish, like tung oil? Did a 22 with it at it looks so much better.

Haven't had a chance to shoot her yet(range is closed for repairs) but cant wait to. Will probably have to work up a new load for her as I'm assuming I'll have to use a quicker burning powder due to the shorter barrel compared to the 91/30.

Ganderite, I like to consider myself a purest and will for sure be going with the traditional shellac but my bros got a K31 sporter stock we're gonna try the tung oil on.
