I remember being able to buy the Springfield one for under $275.00 at Ontario Sporting Supply a long time ago. They really are a neat piece of kit, but they are not worth $1000 in my opinion.
This is a favourite gun of mine. I bought one last year used, and I've been following them pretty closely since. I haven't seen a stainless one for sale in Canada the last 18 months on any of the standard gun trading sites (including this one). Somewhere in the $1,000 range is believable, but the ones I've seen listed for $850 and higher take longer to sell. Since this one is stainless, it might go a little quicker, but still it would have to find the right buyer. Blue Book had them at around $500 USD (I think), but they are getting hard to find. If you have the original blue plastic case, or a matching scope I'll give you $600 (kidding - you can almost name your price).
The thing is, original MSRP was around $500 CAD I think, and also TPS Arms in the states is making brand new copies of them (although I don't know if iRunGuns is bringing them over yet). So, there's a sense in the marketplace that $1K is too much. Still, those that have them (including me) LOVE them and speak highly of them even though they're a mission specific item.
They're only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for them! Hope this helps.
All joking aside, I havent seen many stainless versions for less than $1000. They aren’t worth that, but it’s all about supply and demand. You want one, you pay. Goodies like the knife, scope, or red dot add some value.
