Well, my time with the Norc M77 has been short and now it is jammed up.

First outing was with plated bullets. Started to be stiff to run the slide at the end of the day. So stripped it down cleaned and lubed it up. Everything worked slick.

next time out, ran a mag of hard cast through it. Shot fine. next mag the last case didn't eject fully and the slide wouldn't go all the way.

Dropped the mag, got out the case and tried to move the slide. It will not move fully to the rear. You have to hammer it back shut. Pull it back and it locks up about 2/3 of the way back.

Because of the way it strips, I can't figure how to get the slide off to see what is wrong. As far as I can see, nothing is obviously wedged stopping the slide.

Any and all advice to strip gun needed.

First off, never ever ever put cast lead bullets through a gas retarded gun. The lead shaves off in the gas port leading to dangerously high pressures and piston failure and possible injury.

Put a rod with a soft end down the barrel and hammer the rod with a big hammer, this should force the slide all the way back so you can disassemble it. If this does not work or you are loathe to hammer your pistol take it to a good gunsmith. Sounds like the barrel has bulged just in front of the chamber... Check and make sure there is no bullet stuck in the barrel.

I used a drill extension wrapped in taped and a piece of 2X4 as the hammer.

A few good whacks and the slide moved back. It actually functioned but you could feel resistance just before full back.

Stripping it apart, I took a brass 22cal brush and ran it into the gas port/cylinder under the barrel. Was very stiff at first but slowly and twisting motion back and forth, the brush went in. A good scrubbing and it feels 'open'. Will have to use the bent hook tool to work the gas port in front of the chamber.

Assembling together and it cycles by hand just fine. Nothing looks damaged or worse for wear.

This is definitely a pistol you need to keep clean - at least that gas cylinder port. Will have to do an extended test to see how many rds before it jams up again.

Sure doesn't like cast bullets....
