The CGD are a fun bunch. Get approved then they notify DFAIT of your serial number and if they don't see the right paperwork for it and you don't have said paperwork they will ask the PWEU to come relieve you of your M203 without compensation.

I've seen some "colt civilian sales" M203's with straight rifling, perhaps that is to what he was referring. If you ended up with one of those you can buy a LMT 40mm barrel from texas machine and they will ship it to Canada and take care of the paperwork for you. It's twist rifled, fits on Colt M203's just fine.
