So I have the M88 in .308 but I'm looking for something Heavier and Lighter since I don't always want to pack around a .30 caliber if I'm gonna be shooting yots but need something heavier when I'm hunting up in Grizzly Country. I know the M88 comes in .243 .284 .308 and .358 and am wondering if anyone around here has seen or owns the M88 the .243 .284 and .358 and what are the rough values of the 3 other calibers.

Thinking it would be fun to have the full M88 line in my safe. :D

I don't own any mod 88's but you can bet that .284's and .358's are going to be considerably more expensive than your 308.I believe that rifle was available before and after 1964 so the ones made before 64 wil also cost more.
 
I've got the complete set x2 in the 88's,rifles and carbines.The hardest one to find is the pre 64 in .284 as there were only 2900 made.As for $'s the .243 runs 1-150 more as said above and the .284 another 1-150 again.The 358 was only done for 7 years 1956-62.If you find one of these in really nice shape make sure you've got a deep wallet !!!!!.

Okay so there is hope of me finding a .243 but after that just look for a different Model and maker of rifle. As the price for them starts matching a new gun in bigger calibers then the M88 come in.

A good friend has a super-accurate 88 in 308 that he will never part with and I had a 284 in mint shape that was one of the poorest shooting rifles I ever had. I tried every imaginable bullet weight and the only bullet weight it would shoot to any degree of accuracy was a 115 gr.....any heavier was all over the target. I put it in a gun auction nearly ten years ago and came home with $ 900 in my pocket.
In hindsight maybe I should have re-barreled it to something else because the action was butter-smooth, a nice gun to handle...

Moved my brother so I didn't really have much time to check this thread out till today as we are finally done moving. My .308 is also super accurate. Sitting on a tool box with a towel over it I can shoot cloverleafs out to 150 yards all day using Factory ammo (Federal 150Gr Game Shok or the blue box) Haven't been able to recreate a hand load that works as well as that cartridge yet. Actions smooth (not as smooth as my .22 Ithaca).
 
Yes I know not all are as accurate as my M88 is but hey I got lucky and got 2 used guns that cloverleaf at 50 yards (.22) and the M88 and shotguns don't group they pattern. So I figured I'd try and find me some more in different calibers. I haven't shot much at 200 yards but I get pretty good groups around 2-3" but I need practice at that distance to see if I can get better.
