I need some help deciding which way to go. I already have a Rossi 92 in 357 with the 16" barrel that I really like.
I would like to get another Rossi 92 in 45 Long colt but can't decide wether to buy a ranch hand and put a proper butt stock on it or buy another 16" carbine.
Anyone got any experience with both?

I have experience with both. What do you want to know?

FWIW, putting a buttstock on a ranch hand PROPERLY requires skill. "drop on" stocks from Boyds AREN'T. PGW needs even more fitting, but gives a better result. Think of PGW as maybe an 80% inlet and Boyd's as a 90% inlet. The boyd's stocks I've used ended up sloppier than the PGW sets. Both will need shims glued into the lower inlet if you want them truly tight as both companies over-inlet the lower tangs too widely - sadly.

If you are not a real decent stock woodworker, get the 16" and call it a day.

Not that I can tell. No.

If you go the PGW route, you will need to find a repro 92 butt plate to fit. The 92 plates are bigger than a Rossi plate so you will have to file it down to size and re-blue it.
