I can't post pictures right now but I'm looking to get a ballpark cost and restoring a bubba.

It's a matching Bulgarian m95 Carbine. made in 1909 and says Budapest on the side of the receiver.

The Good :
-Bore looks good
- both sights are intact
-no giant 'S' so it is still in 8x50mmR

the bad:
missing sling swivels
stock shortened
handguard and barrel band gone
slight exterior pitting
driller for a scope

Ugly .
looks like most screws were attacked by bubba's wife who used a butter knife instead of a screw driver.


What parts do you think i will need and were do you think i could find them other than the EE? or should i just post a add looking for a m95 carbine that has a buggered barrel?
 
Buy the parts. Post a picture. I know where there's a 95 stock set (at least he had it a couple weeks ago). Can't confirm it's Bulgarian. Can you post the barrel length...the 95's are all the same save a few markings. Don't know anal you want to get with your refurbishment. Ron
 
So turns out its in 8mm mauser. Austria have them to Serbia and when they formed Yugoslavia they but a semipermanemt clip ( yes its a clip ) in the mag housing.

They took the full length m95 and cut the barrel and the stock down. New designation was the m95m.
 
If it's a M95M (it will say so on the receiver), you'll have a very hard time finding a stock, handguard and fittings for it - I had to go to the US for one a few years back and paid $200 for it. The M95 pieces will not work. If it's been drilled and tapped for a scope, it is definitely not worth it. M95M sporters are common - I have at least three.
 
Thanks for the info.

I will want to replace about three of the screw s because someone stripped two of them pretty bad. The extractor and clip are in the gun so I at least have something to work with. Looks like I will have to start hunting for a wood set.
 
Some time ago there was a mention on gunboards or somewhere of rebareling M95 to 45-70.I wish this conversion was as easy as rebareling but its not.If it was i would have very good use for M95 action i have :) not to mention great hunting rifle
 
I would rather just get a stock for 200Ish rather than have a sporter and a full wood model. It has the main parts its just the wood I need.
 
Hunt for missing parts or buy a whole gun? The de-sporterizer's dilemma. I suggest buying the whole gun which has been so graciously offered. There is no way of knowing what you don't have or what you won't find. And this way, you have some spares assembled in an old junker gun, which you may still need (or can sell one by one to someone else to recover the purchase cost ....)
