Tonight I managed to get out and shoot a newly acquired Mauser rifle in .30-06 and I thought I would share it with everyone. It was taken on a crappy iphone camera. After shooting this thing I must say I absolutely love it. I have only seen a couple of these online and heard mixed reviews but this one is great. Now if anyone can point me in the direction to pick up a bayonet for this thing I would greatly appreciate it.

I just picked up one of these Brazilian Mausers too. Very nice rifle.

Question for you... What type of screw holds on the front barrel band which surrounds the bayonet lug? I am missing it, and curious what size would work.

Still need to pick up a Gew98 Cleaning Rod and sling for it too.

I like the M954 just as much as my K98s!

Also, you need some M1903 (Springfield) stripper clips/chargers to load the 30-06 properly into the charger guide on the M954, 8mm strippers will not work.

Cheers!

Here Desert Fox I will take a picture of the screw and post it for you, and thank you on the tip for the clips I was just about to order some 8mm clips thanks for saving me the $20. I still need to find what bayonet fits and order one, to me it looks like yugo makes might fit or some of the earlier Brazilian Mauser bayonets might fit as well.

If you could take a pic of the entire screw, that would be amazing! Thanks. :D

Yeah, I bought some Springfield 1903 30-06 stripper clips to use in an FN49, but they ended up not fitting, so I just kept them, and good thing! They work quite nicely in the M954! I believe I got them from Numrich Gun Parts Corp out of the US.

I tried my German WW2 K98 Bayonet on the M954 and it works just fine! :) Also tried a Belgian FN49 bayonet and it worked too, though a little loose. Funny though, the bayo lug is definitely shorter on an M954 than a K98. So I would assume a Yugo M98 bayonet would work, but don't quote me on that. Make sure that if you keep your cleaning rod on the rifle that you get a bayonet like a German K98 bayonet that has the hole in the handle to accommodate the cleaning rod. Which most all Mauser bayos should have.

Cheers! :)

that is the screw that came out of the nose cap. After I took this picture I took the rifle down to its basic components and I found a lot of rust and pitting. A lot of the rust seemed to follow to space between the upper hand guard and stock. But I wanted to ask about buying from Numrich Gun Parts Corp. Would they be able to ship the clips to a Canadian address?

Thanks! :)

You should have no problems ordering some Stripper Clips from Numrich. I ordered my 1903 clips, FN49 firing pin, SVT40 sling, and other accessories that added up to just under $100 about 4 months ago no problem! :)

Had them shipped to my address in Alberta.

You should not have any problems... unless you tack on other items like 30 round Kalashnikov magazines, 3" pistol barrels, and Full Auto MG components... ;)

Cheers!

They send to Canada no problem, but you better check their shipping rates, they might just kill the deal.

INFO NEEDED!! An acquaintance recently showed me a GORGEOUS copper-chromed Brazilian Mauser M954 in 30.06.

My question is, does anyone know if this is a factory copper-chrome job? I have never seen this and wonder if it's just a custom commercial job. Thoughts on price?
