Hello, Hoping for a bit of help. I don't know too much about these guns but I am trying to get an approximate price for a sporter M95M. It is marked Budapest and all the serial numbers that I can find match (including the bolt head). The sporter conversion looks really well done and I am not sure if the barrel has been shortened or not. There is a Lyman rear peep sight but all the other metal parts seem correct. The bore looks good and the actions seems to function correctly. The only real condition issue is a crack in the stock and the bluing is mostly gone.

Please let me know what a fair price would be for this gun. I have googled and search CGN but have not really been able to find one like this. Most of the sporters seem to be in much worse condition.

Thanks and here are a few pics.....

Dwarf,
You might check gunbroker for an out of control price, or you might find a fair price there too, you never know. Was the front receiver ring D&T'd?

Neat little rifle for packing in the thick timber. Looks like the changed out the plate for a pad but at least they didn't cut the stock down.

Somebody has gone to a lot of trouble and expense to make a nice sporter out of a Stutzer.

Stock is a custom job and very nice. Bolt-handle looks to be swept down also, a definite improvement,

I would think it likely that this was done to a wartime bring-back and the work done not long after the war.

WISH this one could talk!

Value? Sorry, but I have no idea.

Be a helluvva good shorty for Mister Moooose, though!

I'd say 250-300$, but that depends on barrel condition etc. ... assuming the whole thing is there, including a non-broken extractor.

It looks like it had previously had a scope mounted, which is why the straight-pull bolt handle was bent, but now that the scope's gone, the bend is a distinct disadvantage over straight. I can imagine jammed fingers and all sorts of problems with it. Aside from a source for parts, the stock is to me the most interesting part, but it's cracked, has a cut-out for the lyman sight and has an unsightly butt-pad.

It has no collector value, and questionable value as a hunting tool, but for someone who likes it, you never know. It would likely fetch at least $150.

Thanks for all the replies. When I got the gun it came with some 8mm Mauser ammo so I assume it is in the correct caliber for a M95M but I have never shot it.

That little thing is too nice NOT to shoot, IMHO.

8x57 AND a straight-pull... should be greased lightning.

Handloading, you can get the 8x57 to do almost anything you can do with a .30-'06 AND do it with a .32 slug: bigger hole, lower pressure, all those other good points. With a 150, this would be a great little deer gun, especially for pushing bush. If you can scope it.... why not?

One thing for sure; you'd be the only kid on the block playing with one of THOSE toys!

I have one that I bubba'd way back when such things were acceptable. With "outta-the-box" Winchester 170gr., I can put 5 rnds into a quarter at 100m. when I'm shootin' good. You have a beautiful rifle, and it should bring you lots of fun. Enjoy!

A wonderful rifle. If wood and bands were availiable, I would be interested in restoring that personally. But, alas, they are not. I would say 250 for that package, it would do someone well. The 8mm cartridge is a good one for it.

Thanks again for all the info. I am not sure but I think I will be putting it on the EE in the next few weeks. I still need to think about it.
