I am purchasing a Robarms M96, I am wondering if it possible/legal to use 10 round AR mags in it. My understanding is that it accepts regular AR mags. Also am wondering what would be a suitable sight for this rifle. I would like an ACOG but holy $$$! Will be using for general plinking at the old gravel pit and possibly some varmints. Any ideas fellas? Thanks Gunnutterz.

The M96 uses the 10 round LAR-15 magazines fine having used them myself. I never had a problem with them.

An ACOG would be sweet. I have mounted and Aimpoint on it but had to remove the spacer in order to get it low enough to maintain a good cheek position to the stock. I couldn't get a co-witness with the original sights.

You could always get a good scope and mount for longer range shooting. It really depends on what you want to do with it.

Hope this helps. It's a great gun.

Thanks Raytheon. I am not to familair with the rifle itself but have done a bit of research and it seems to combine alot of great features from alot of great guns into one. I also like the fact that it is rare. So my understanding of the 10 round mag deal is that because it is a pistol mag it is legal to use in a rifle, correct me if I'm wrong. Will prob use the open sights for a while at first, but I think an ACOG will eventually live up top. Do you know of any reliabiltiy issues with these, I have heard some people say that Robarms customer service is bad, and others say it's great (same as anything else I guess) I know there were some updates to the bolt carrier and trigger group, not sure if mine will have these or not, hopefully. Are there many mods available for these, stocks, cheekpeices etc? Thanks alot for the help man.

Considering XCRMonger is a member of CGN and post here on regular basis, she is the only manufacturer service representative I know of that is active on this forum, kind of shows you how much they trying to look after their customers.

Great source of information. No issues other than user error (seating the magazine incorrectly and unintended changing from fire to safe when firing with my left hand index finger as I flag above the trigger guard as I ride high on the grip).

Check Service Information & Owners Manuals for sure. You can download the manual, and videos on how to properly disassemble and reassemble the M96.

Buy an XCR instead. I like the M96 too, but...

Buying an M96 (over an XCR) means that you are choosing a rifle that is already obsolete. ROBARM has said that they cannot supply replacement parts for the M96.

Appreciating an uncommon design is one thing, but to buy, knowingly, an obsolete, unsupported rifle - when you can also buy the well-received XCR - is just retarded.

Is any rifle really ever obsolete? The amount I am going to use it, unless there is something wrong with the basic design, which as far as I know there isn't, then I am not anticipating any issues. All my research leads me to believe that it is a sound design. As far as spare parts are concerned I can't really comment on that, I will look into it though. I have heard that there are spare parts available, but don't know for sure.

You can still buy parts for 70 year old military rifles off the web very easily, so if he looks hard enough I am sure parts area available somewhere

Robinson are great people. Especially Tara. She has helped me with parts and knows the rifle inside and out. I also have an XCR and I recommend you get both if you can afford it. I also recommend putting a Elcan Specter DR on it!

RobArms no longer makes spare parts for the M96.
If I were you, I would be scrounging around now for replacement 'bits'..bolt, springs, etc.
This was the major reason why I passed on purchasing one, although they are great rifles, fun to shoot, etc.

I've had a few M96 rifles, since they literally started to sell them. I've not had one of them do something outside of going "bang" everytime I pulled the tirgger, even before any of the bolt and trigger upgrades.
Mine were as accurate as can be expected, dirty or clean and didn't fuss when I was too tired to clean them and took them to the range repetitively.
The only sadness I ever had to deal with was the lack of accessories such as furniture options (type/colour) and the cost of (when you could locate one) a trunnion/system for a folding stock.

Well ,thanks for the insight guys. I think I'm still gonna go for it. I will try to find some spare guts for it if i can, but as I mentioned earlier I probably won't fire it an enormous amount. Gonna look into the Elcan dannyair, hopefully can find one on the EE.

I will always take care of warranty replacements. When I get a call from someone wanting one of every part in the gun, of course I can't support that. I want to ensure I can take care of everyone in need. I have a limited inventory, but I never turn away someone needing a replacement for a broken piece. It ships the day you call me about it.

Wow! How cool is that! And she's hot!

So it looks like Wendell is obviously uninformed, maybe you should have done your homework before commenting. I can't wait to get my rifle and put it through it's paces, very excited, just need to get off this damn mountainside and back to civilization first! Cheers to XCRmonger and Robarms, don't even own the rifle yet and already have received awesome service.

Next-the XCR.
