Hi guys,
After seeing my first "Black Gun" in real life i've decided I just need to have one! Since I dont have my restricted yet I've had my eyes on the M96 or AR180 and would love to hear the pros and cons from the owners of these oh so sweet looking rifles. Any real life testimonials would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to all!!!

180B or 180? If you can buy a simple 180 there are alot of better guns in that class to own. But I take it you mean 180B, in which case I would take the M96, simply because the receiver is metal, its not going to crack, atleast not as easily as the plastic 180B's lower. If you do a search you can find out about a cracked 180B that happened to a guy on this forum.

Also just refer to the M96 VS SL8 thread.

The m96 is nice just make sure you get a current one. Robinson is charging me over $400 USD to refit my early one to current specs. Also I have already burned the barrel out, not chrome lined and I don't know if the current ones are.

How many rds did it take to burn it out?

I probably had around 20,000 rounds through it, maybe more. It still functioned ok even after the recoil spring broke in to a couple of pieces, I am not saying it is a bad design just get a current one with the upgrades.

IIRC, the current M96s have chrome lined barrels.

I had an older M96 and I love it.I had the tail carrier upgraded free of charge.

I only sold it off as I wanted to pick up a couple more M14s for specific projects.

SKBY.

Yes I'm the AR180B pimp around here but if money isn't the issue, I say get the M96. My close buddy has one so I've had a decent amount of trigger time on it. I like it, nice little firearm.

Plus it's metal!

I have multiple Ar-180's and 180b's as well as the M96 and others, just get one and shoot the hell out of it and get really good with what you have.
