M98 barrel on a M96 action- can it be done?

is it possible to "chase" the threads on a large ring 98 barrel to use it on a small ring Swede 96 action? i have a mint .308 Parker Hale take off barrel i'd like to use. and yes the Swede action will safely handle a .308 Winchester, until recently i shot and loaded for a CG63E, which is a 308 target rifle built on a Swede 96 action, with never a issue.

It would require picking up the thread and threading it close to 100 thou smaller until it fits correctly.... and then length and headspace issues to be done...

Just found this thread, how 'bout going the other way, can a m96 barrel go on a m98 action?
