why do not more people order them with adjustable cheekpieces (same price) rather than the plastic adjustable one that seems so popular,

and the robertson stocks like a tac or a ranger or a rc12 which one is good for long range (not f class) just long range as opposed to a mac a5

Jeff

mac website seems ot indicate a few bucks more and then a few bucks more for the wheel, model,

went to the website again and

in the pricing section on stock options (not stock market options) it said

quote cheekpiece models,,

1. integral chekpiece is 116

2. saddle cheekpiece is 116

3. thumbhole is 142

SO IF THE INTEGRAL IS THE SAME AS THE SADDLE THEN

the saddle sems cheaper to me and I thought the integral would be better and was looking for some reason why the vast majority come in with a saddle,

now the wholesale price may be different (by what 10 bucks as the retail is the same for that option between saddle and integral)

I would prefer the thumbwheel but it is only 25 bucks more but in canada it might be 100 (makes no sense when comparing the retail to retail for that option)

once again the question is why the saddle

I am looking at thses stocks for a build and cannot figure this out and would like to try a thumbwheel or a integal before buying

I just got a fully loaded A-5 from John Wall at JW Precision and the tumbwheel adjustable cheek option was $142. He is located out of Ontario. His price was good and he was bang on with his wait time!! If your looking for a stock I'd give him a chance.

If the stock is ordered directly from McMillian you are correct about the price.I just ordered one for my sako 75 that i'm currently building up. The thumb wheel is not available for some reason when inletted for the 75 action. I suspect that mabey people are concerned about weight? If it were a option for me I would of taken it.

i think it's because you can't cycle the bolt.

It boils down to personal preference. I have an A5 with the saddle cheek piece and love it! They are not made of cheap plastic by any means! It is aluminum covered with some sort of rubber and has an aluminum block embedded in the stock for added structure. Again boils down to personal preference.
