Hey there does anyone else out there have a Maccabee that ejects the brass against the receiver behind the brass deflector? I have a 18.6” Maple ridge barrel with adjustable gas block that I have tried adjusting from fully open to almost shut where the bolt hold open didn’t work anymore, the ejection pattern pretty much stayed at the 5 o clock. I am using a strike industries flat wire buffer spring and carbine buffer with rifle length gas system. Any ideas would be appreciated

Mine does the same with factory 55 gr fmj's. I've been working on handloads and have a brass catcher on now, so I'm not sure if stiffer loads have made any difference. Haven't tried adjusting anything yet, but I'll be watching here too. For now I stuck a small piece of Velcro on the receiver where the brass was marking it.

It's the crappiest brass deflector design I've ever seen. If they actually milled a decent sized brass deflector into the receiver you would have a much better ejection pattern.

As long as your rifle is functioning reliably that's all that matters. There's not much you can do about it.

You could try a different buffer or buffer spring, or different ammunition. or not worry about it too much....With AR15's as long as it's functioning, I don't really care much if it's between 2 and 5.

Problem solved

Well I called Maple Ridge yesterday and asked them if they ever had issues that there gas port was too small, they assured me that it wasn’t a problem and that I should call RDSC As they used lots of there barrels to set up Maccabees and see what they figured, so I called them and they told me that is just the way Maccabees ejected. So I got to thinking about it and figured because it didn’t make a difference where I had the gas block adjusted too it ejected to the 5 O clock which ment the gas block could be almost closed and still allowed all the gas that the port would allow through, went through the gas block. So I checked the port size which was about .094 and cautiously drilled it out to .109 and knocked the burr inside the barrel off with a cleaning rod and cleaned the barrel afterwards. Lo and behold the first shot I took ejected towards the 2 O clock so I closed the gas block two notches and it ejected between 3-4 O’clock problem solved!!! The gas block adjusting screw is about halfway screwed in.

Same thing here. It doesnt have much of a deflector in the first place though, compared to real sized deflectors on AR receivers. Because its a slick side upper, they used a smaller billet to machine from to save on costs (since they dont need wider billet for an FA) meaning not enough material to make a real brass deflector. Whereas ATRS used a screw on design on their slick side Sporters to put a full sized deflector on.
