machining bullets

AP is fine in rifle, banned in handgun ammo.
And as noted above, there are all copper bullets available for hunting loads that do not qualify as AP

There are sporting bullets made of monolithic brass (Barnes and GS Custom's solids) and sporting bullets with tungsten penetrators under copper jackets (Speer AGS solids), so I think concerns about home made turned bullets being classified as controlled items is a non issue. If I was going to attempt to turn bullets, I think I would try to copy bullets from Barnes, GS, or Northfork, and try to cut driving bands into the shank to reduce barrel wear from the hard material.

We are currently working with a new Canadian manufacturing company who are producing CNC machined bulletes for 50 BMG, 408 and 338. The principals of the company are frustrated high end shooters who could not get components out of the USA and when they could ,found them lacking in consistency and ultimately accuracy. We have placed our initial order and hope to see some later this year. We have some prototypes in our shop now. Exact bullet weigths and prices are being determined. The company will also be setting up to do swagged bullets as well. We will keep you posted. Phil.

Very interesting. I look forward to watching this one develop. I'm all over it, especially if they decide to produce an RN or FN design in the 600-700 grain area
