Macro experiment (and old army junk)

Decided to actually TRY to get good macro shots...

here are some results:

Top one could use some more light but not bad overall. BTW when you want to unload those ancient finns you know who to contact, right?

Better than mine (so far). Might want to use something white to reflect light back into the dark area. What kind of set up are you using? And Klunk - most of us are envious of your 'old army junk'.

havent tried reflecting light or anything fancy...that is next

and who would be envious of this old crap....nasty nagants....

Nice Mosin with an 1892 date to boot too!

Also nice early dated Norwegian Kar98k too.

For macro shots, I attempt to get as close as I can with light shining in from above and in front so as to avoid any shadows from my body or camera getting in the way.

I find ambient outside light works best but sometimes an indoor shot with the right lighting will do the same trick.

Nice work. What light source were you using?

Daylight tends to provide the most even results, and if you want super sharp images, it's worth using a tripod (and the shutter on a timer) if you have one.

(I was a pretty serious photographer at one time.)
