Mad Minute Challenge

Buffdog already won this one!

13 hits, 2 close, out of 15 at the 300 gong at the range out at Wolverine, July 6 this year.

Thirty witnesses.

Rifle? A borrowed 1920 Lithgow SMLE which he had never fired.

Time? 30 seconds.

Video exists, both at the firing-point and at the target.

Might that video might find it's way onto CGN? We'd all love to watch that.

Smellie, For this challenge you need 15 on target in one minute to "buy in". That said I'd still love to see that video!
It would be awesome if you and Buffdog entered this challenge, I have learned A LOT from you as a new-ish milsurper.

And yes a 100M bayonet charge would be huge points.

As for the 300M guys, perhaps multiply your group by .33 for your final score? sound fair?

I still think Buffdog wins! At 72 years young he is truely still a bad a** marksman! My brother has a video of that event on his phone but he doesn't have a YouTube account.

Might I add he was shooting a random rifle that we grabbed off of the table and he was shooting at an 18" gong.

We'll have to figure out a way to post it in the near future as it really was a display of talent!

One more thing in case I figure out a way to post my own video. What size target are we shooting at? If the rule is 15 out of 15 on target then I'd say @ 100 meters a 12" round target should be more then adequate.

Just my thoughts.

Anyone that wants to try this with a #4 should have a look at the "Shoot to Live" book I scanned and gave to Milsurp.ca. Just because you have a bolt action rifle does not mean you know how to run a #4. Since a gong shoot has been done to good effect, what size was the gong and was it 300 yards or metres? Should we all use full power loads?

The gong Smellie and I were referring to was 18" and set up at 300 yards. It's the one at Forte Labosse gun club next to Wolverine supply.

Why are people just whipping the bolt open after a click but no bang?? i know there was no danger in these cases as one was a broken firing pin & one an empty chamber, but come on guys safety first! next time it could be a hangfire that goes off just as you lift that handle.

Not a entry, but me in competition back in 2007 the year the SMLE i was using turned 100yo

Maybe they need to see one close up, blew the magazine into the ground and luckily the only damage to the shooter were the brown stains in his underwear.
