I have a friend in US that has made in canada Colt that he wants to sell to me. After importing through IRG paying shipping and tax etc it will run me about 1600. think it's worth getting?
probably going to sell off the upper to make up for the cost. The lower will go with my IUR

Why so much? You can get a Colt AR15a3 Tactical Carbine "Made In Canada" in the US right now for $700 to $900.

Edit... just saw your "all in" after import price. If you are talking $1400 to $1500, ya, that is a good going rate for at your door in Canada after all the fees, taxes, exchange.

The upper is just a standard Colt Defense barrel assembly. The upper receiver itself may also (should) have a Diemaco/Devtec stamp mark, but be an M4 cutout version which is different that the SA uppers. It should also have a Diemaco/Devtec marked bolt carrier group.

I'd keep the BCG and the complete lower. With an IUR you'd have a complete Diemaco/Colt Canada parts gun.
