Made my choice thank you for your input

As said the model 7 is only in short actions. How about one in 350 rem mag! Or a 7saum! Of course. Only helps if you're a reloader because ammo for either is pixie dust as of late it seems.

I have a 7 SAUM Rem M7 BUT refitted with a Fluted Rem M700 7 SAUM 24 " barrel on it ! Very KOOL cartridge ! RJ

Well I couldn't pass up this deal so I picked up a BROWNING X-BOLT WHITE GOLD MEDALLION 30 06 with a Nikon 2.5-5-10x50 prostaff 7 .

Cheers

Weatherby Backcountry and Winchester extreme weather are both available in 06 and are very durable all conditions rifles. both 24" barrels though, most people say stay with 22' barrel for mountain rifles. New Rem 700 SS MTN in the bell and carlson stock has 22" barrel and is a nice looking rig, the accuracy out of the skinny barrel is debatable though.

If price point is important, I'd go with a Tikka T3. IMHO, it is better made and assembled than any Rem (*stirs pot*) and you'll get a rifle that will go just over a hair over 7 lbs when scoped. Tikka/Sako manufactures to better tolerances than others and the out-of-the-box accuracy guarantee is a real bonus. All my Tikka's have easily shot under an inch with my handloads. Tikka has its detractors but given the issues I've had with my Rem, no Rem will grace my locker again! It's a matter of experience and preference...
