Well, nobody wanted to sell me the handguard off their CG 63 ;) So I had to make one. I didnt do the top groove as I thought it looked pretty nice the way it was. Barrel still floats and its a perfect fit! About six hours of work, but well worth while.

Thanks, I hand selected a chunk of ash with similiar looking grain. The stock itself is walnut of course, but I have found that ash can be a nice substitute if you find the right piece.

nice work. lil off topic but I love the old chair

So I walk into an antique store and look around see a bunch of faux antiques and overpriced refinished junk.......then I spy this chair, ask him about it and he says "that old piece of junk? you can have it" .....my favorite piece in the whole store LOL

Yes nice job. I stained some Ash in red oak a few years back and it looked better then oak.

I agree the colour match is amazing. Did you use a linseed oil to get that colour? I've done some experimenting to match old walnut with new walnut and it's tricky. Maybe ash is the way to go.
Nice job!

No, I used the Saman water based stain/dye. I think the color was called dark walnut. I really like the Saman dyes. Sometimes need to use a combination of dyes and stains to get the right look.
