Hey Guys, I recently picked up a G17 for my bro, and I was trying to take the mags apart, just to see how they are put together. They are the standard 10 round mags that come with the latest generation Glock. I found that pressing the pin in the bottom of the plate is not enough to get the plate to slide out. It appears as though there are tabs in ridges on both sides preventing the plate from sliding away from the mag tube. I haven't seen this before on other mags that I have taken apart in the past. Am I missing something here? The instruction manual that came with the pistol doesn't really clarify things for me. Any help would be appreciated. - D

use a allen key / small screw driver and insert it in the hole and push it towards the front of the mag.

the next step is to gently pull back on the allen key / screw driver.

Yup, push the pin down as you were,
AND also squeeze the sides of the mag
body just under the floor plate(mag turned upsidedown).
I usually thro them iin a vice with lite pressure
using two small wooden dowels to focus the
mild force on those tweo areas.
It 'should' come off now. . Hope that helps ya.

Thanks for the advice guys. I still haven't been able to get these mags apart. So much for Glock Perfection. I have put so much force on the plate trying to get it off that I actually broke a drill bit that I was using to press the button tab in the bottom. Unbelievable. I guess I'll keep trying. Somethings got to give. Probably give myself a hernia. :D

That is not right, I have owned close to 40 Glock mags and each one was disassembled with a thin long Allen key. Are you sure they were never super glued at some point? I have seen it before...

I got it! I pressed the edge of the plate against the edge of a table and pushed down on it as I depressed the button. Thanks for the replies everybody. I've learned something tonight.
