Hey guys hunting for a certain gun. we have all seen the mag fed dominion with the 18.5 barrel but has anyone seen a mag fed semi auto defender type shotgun? This would be great out in the back country.

By defender type, do you mean with a pistol grip only? My limitted knowledge tells me, that most semi shotguns, have a spring extending back into the stock, making such a thing difficult at least. The Saiga Shotguns don't have this problem, if you don't mind moving to the USA or New Zealand. The only Mag fed semi, that I'm currently aware that would be legal here, if it existed, is the mag fed Cougar that doesn't even have an ETA yet, and with the spring, a Pistol grip only stock, would be a no go.

Of course, what I don't know could fill volumes, so maybe someone else knows something I don't.

Problem with a semi with a short barrel is it would be restricted, which means range only. There's a few different models of shortbarreled semi available, but unless a whole bunch of laws change, none that you could legally take anywhere describable as back country.

bingo.

imho you are much better with a short barreled pump with a full stock in the bush. there are plenty of threads discussing this.

Less finicky, cheaper, nothing that will make you worried about bashing it around, easier to aim.

I've done the mag fed route. While full mag changes are much faster, but it's not easy to top them up. You'll need several mags to take full advantage of it. The ONLY time, (I feel) a mag fed has an advantage over a regular shotgun is in very shot barrel configs ( such as 12.5 or 8.5) where capacity is limited due to barrel length. Then, really you only gain 1 round and lose the ability to top up on the fly or switch types of rounds.
just my 0.02 and experiences with both
