I wonder if anyone has tried this powder..I am thinking of trying Mag Pro for my 270WSM and 140 grain accubonds? Thought's, Conjecture and ridicule are welcome

Could be a good thing

This is one of the new generation of ball powders from Sweden. Certainly has great load data. Unfortunately, not as available or cheap as Hodgdon.

If you can get it, try it. Should work very well in that case. This powder is supposed to be temp insensitive too.

Hi just finnished testing loads for a new rem 700 hart barrel 24" 7mmwsm one of powders was Magpro I got from Epps in Orillia $34 a pound it gave decent accuracy just under 3/4 " at 3220fps with 140gr nosler BT want to load some Lost River bullets I got, they say they are pretty good should be at price, 140gr J 36 this bullet has a BC of 644 very very high compared to whats out there. but I found a powder my gun loves H 4831s/c 67gr 140gr nosler fired three shot group very very tight go to www.shortmags.com and go to RANGE REPORTS forum and look up Fairly Light & 7mmwsm 6.7lbs in REM 700 you can see target and gun new type fluting.

My 1# jug of Mag Pro is from South Africa, but Accurate buys all from over. This lot # was about the same quickness as my Retumbo and one grain faster than Ramshot Magnum. In my 264, it was the second best powder.Magnum was the best. In the 270WSM,I would stick to a 4831 class powder, you can use it in other calibers and you wouldn't have to worry about getting enough pressure for a even burn.My groups closed as I went up the ladder with Mag Pro.

I've never seen a can of MagPro for sale...but that don't mean it's not a good powder. I don't see alot of AA powders for that matter...or WXR or MRP :? :)

I am going to Phone epps on Monday and see who thier supplier is... I have heard really good things about this stuff. 8)
Thanks for the info manitou

Big Red i have looked at chart a fellow did at benchrest shoots in two shoots in
USA emade notes on powders used on winning targets and RL 22 & 25 accounted for %50+ winners and H 4831 about 20% every thing else was 2 to 4% of winners I will try and find site.

Cool... thanks manitou.
I have tried RL 25 and H4831 and a few others as well.
So far the most consistent and accurate powder in the Short mags has been Retumbo. The reduction in recoil and the low velocity variance was noticeable too.

I'll second H4831 and Retumbo. Use the H4831 in my 270WSM for 130gr bullets and get consistant groups under 1". Use the Retumbo for 140gr Accubonds and get groups that avg about 1.25".
