Are there regulations on how to deactivate a stand-alone magazine (that is not attached to the deactivated firearm)?

The mags in question are 30-rounders for a currently prohibited firearm, so I would like to be able to neuter them as display pieces.

Thanks.

If your intent is to keep the magazine looking original but not operational I have seen them filled with epoxy under the follower with a few dummy rounds to give it 'the look'. Or they have had a metal bar epoxyed to the inside to block the follower from moving any further than 5 rounds.

I will expand on my earlier reply.

No, there are no specific regulations about disabling mags.
Simply required to limit it to 5 or 10 rounds, as the case may be.
There are no set standards for that either, but a single pop rivet has been found to be acceptable.

Cheers
