Silly question but several nice pistols I aquired in recent years have nasty government inflicted round dents in the mags to restrict them to 10 rounds, this spoils the smooth feeding of rounds as the springs catch etc. How hard is it to remove these dents and can it be done without ruining the mags? all info welcome.

I take it he's going to pin them after.

Assuming pinning takes place, a mandrel can be used inside the mag and the body carefully hammered down over the dent to peen it level with the surface..they can be drilled out as mentioned as well but deburr the inside as well as the outside to prevent further spring hang up. What type of pistol are we talking about here? As crappy as some 10 round mags are (browing HP mags are the worst, some won't even take 10 rounds..) all seem plenty reliable...

mag dents

The worst is a 9mm M&P which came with the dented mags last year not the 10 round ones which are supposed to be available but never get to my usually fine dealer. Another is a minty Browning BDA I aquired this year from an estate. Thanks for the advice so far.
